LinkedIn Data Limits for B2B Prospecting
LinkedIn-derived datasets can be useful for professional context but have coverage and freshness limits. Review source permissions and independently validate company and contact records.

A professional-network profile can help you understand a person’s role or a company’s public presence. It should not automatically become the full definition of your B2B market.
When a prospecting workflow depends on LinkedIn-derived data, evaluate how the data was obtained, what the source covers, and how records are kept current.
Check permitted use at the source
LinkedIn’s User Agreement restricts automated scraping and certain copying of profiles and other data. Review the relevant provisions and your provider’s sourcing terms when assessing a workflow. See LinkedIn’s User Agreement.
A dataset being commercially available does not, by itself, establish that every collection or use is permitted. Equally, public website sourcing is not a blanket guarantee of compliance. The source, data, and intended use matter.
Separate profile presence from company existence
A business can have an active website and customers without maintaining a useful LinkedIn page. This is especially relevant when evaluating markets outside the professional-network audiences your team knows best.
Test with real companies in your target vertical. Check whether the source finds them and whether their category, domain, and location are correct.
Validate freshness and identity
People change roles, organizations rebrand, and domains redirect. Preserve enough information to distinguish the intended company from another with a similar name.
For contacts, confirm current affiliation where it matters. A record filled by a second vendor may be newer, older, or simply different; the presence of a value is not proof of accuracy.
Add website-based discovery where it contributes
DiscoLike uses network signals and business website content to discover and describe companies. This can contribute accounts absent from a professional-network-based list.
Website sourcing has its own limits, including missing pages and ambiguous business descriptions. Compare sources after applying the same qualification rules.
Explore DiscoLike as a complementary discovery source and measure accepted, net-new accounts in a specific segment.
