Website Signals for B2B Account Targeting

A company’s website often contains targeting details that a broad industry label cannot express. A clinic may advertise a specific treatment; a manufacturer may name a certification; a software vendor may offer a free trial.

Website phrase matching turns those details into searchable account criteria.

Choose phrases that distinguish the segment

Signal Example phrase What to verify
Product or service Invisalign The company provides it rather than discussing it
Certification ISO certified The relevant standard, scope, and current status
Partner relationship Authorized reseller The named vendor and relationship
Sales motion Request a demo A product offering relevant to your ICP
Physical presence Store location The location and whether it is active

The phrase should connect to a real qualification requirement. Generic words such as “growth” or “innovation” rarely separate a useful account segment.

Combine phrases with business meaning

Start with a semantic description of the target company, then add phrase conditions. For a venture-capital search, stage terms such as “pre-seed” or “Series A” may combine with sector terms such as “fintech” or “biotech.”

Review how the search groups alternatives and required conditions. Requiring every term can remove valid matches; allowing every term independently can broaden the list too far.

Handle exclusions carefully

Excluding a phrase can help remove known mismatches. However, the absence of “franchise” on a homepage does not establish that a care provider is independent.

Likewise, a service may appear on an internal page but not on the indexed homepage. Keep missing evidence distinct from a confirmed negative.

Review before exporting

Use AI to suggest vocabulary, then test the phrases against companies you know. Inspect the surrounding text for a sample of results and refine the query.
