TAM Mapping with Hard-to-Verify Criteria

A DiscoLike search returned 7,690 candidate accounts for a mobile-app ICP. Some requested criteria used proxies, so the results were a discovery pool rather than a fully verified TAM.

TAM Mapping with Hard-to-Verify Criteria

A prospect evaluating alternatives to Keyplay asked for companies with mobile apps, at least 100,000 monthly active users, and cloud data warehouses, segmented into markets such as fintech and consumer apps.

The request combined observable signals with metrics that are often private. The first step was to separate what we could search from what needed validation.

Translate the ICP into evidence requirements

Requested criterion Candidate signal What still needs verification
Has a mobile app App Store or Google Play presence Current app and correct company association
Uses a cloud data warehouse Cloud vendor signals Actual warehouse product and use
At least 100,000 MAU Company-size screening A sourced monthly-active-user figure
Fintech or consumer segment Business description and segmentation Fit with the client’s definition

Our search used a 50-employee floor as a rough screening choice. Employee count cannot establish MAU. Likewise, an AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud signal does not prove use of a particular data warehouse.

What the search returned

The search produced 7,690 candidate accounts, organized with DiscoLike’s segmentation tools. That was a larger pool to investigate, not proof that every company met every requested requirement.

To compare the cost with another provider, apply the same criteria and count accepted accounts after validation. The size of the initial candidate pool is only one part of that calculation.

Validate the criteria that matter most

Research public MAU disclosures where available and preserve the reporting period. Look for direct warehouse evidence in technical pages, case studies, or other attributable sources.

Keep unresolved accounts separate. If too few companies disclose the required metric, agree on an acceptable proxy before changing the qualification rule.

Book a demo with a difficult ICP and we can help distinguish the searchable market from the research still required.
